My studies in the period 1.2.2020 - 17.2.2020

01-17 Feb Time (in hours) Notes English Spanish Italian Portuguese Latin Gallego
1. Grammar/Lessons
2. Reading 2 2
3. Listening 17.3 6.3 3.7 3.9 0.6 1.4
4. Writing 6 1 3
5. Speaking
6. Vocabulary
7. Phonetic drills

According to my plan I should have to have 6 hours learning Spanish (I am OK here), 6 hours Italian (1,3 hours missing) and 4 hours Portuguese (I almost doubled it). But obviously I have to start vocabularyand pronunciation exercises. So I will focus on them these 2 last weeks of February. I am ready with the materials for the weekend and only I have no clear vision about phonetic exercises in Spanish and Italian. So in a conclusion I become good habit of lisening every day but I have to make effort to do some leaning with reading and phonetic exercises.

How to learn a new language: Start with the right resources (Luca Lampariello)

I have three languages that I started to learn almost from scratch - portuguese, galician and latin. So I have to use some learning materials to learn some basic vocabulary, grammar fundamentals. But it is so difficult to choose the right material. So I listen one of the videos of Luca Lampariello about the problem. I summarize some useful tips:

  • one resource to use till get solid foundations
  • your language learning material has to be comprensible, enjoyable and useful. So I choose my textbooks for Portuguese, Galician and Latin to meet these criteria. But I have to use them properly - not to learn grammar but to build skills. I think that I have to track my progress not only in hours and minutes but with list of learnt new material. I have to think about how to figure out this.

How to learn a language every day (without giving up) and other videos

  • divide planning from executing (plan the day before, made preparations before). This is my big problem - to prepare my studies the day before and not to loose time
  • learn when you are not tired. It is good to start the day with a dictation. I like this and I will try it, but I have to work and cannot learn whenever I like.
  • focus on listening/reading without distraction of social media and music
  • association with previously stored information - especially images
  • flashcard with imges and pronunciation and context (sentence or frase)
  • review at regular intervals
  • Goldlist method

I will try these but I think I have to implement them step by step. Flashcards are boring but they are efficient for review. So I have to make flashcards. I want to try Goldlist method but I think it would be difficult to make so many habits at once.
